Fatal Motorcycle Accident Closes Down a Florida Intersection

A Seminole, Florida man is dead after a severe motorcycle accident that occurred yesterday afternoon in Clearwater, Florida, closing down the Belcher and Drew Street intersection.

According to the Clearwater Police Department, Derek John Diamond was traveling along Belcher Road when his motorcycle crashed into a sedan being driven by Alfred Belanger. Belanger was attempting to make a left turn at the Belcher and Drew Street intersection when he drove directly in Diamond’s path. Diamond was unable to stop his motorcycle in time, result in a severe collision.

Diamond smashed directly into the driver’s side of Belanger’s car door which killed him upon impact. Belanger, along with his wife who was riding in the passenger seat, suffered no injuries.

Police speculate that Diamond’s fatal injuries didn’t happen because of speeding, alcohol, or drugs. Diamond was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The accident is still being investigated according to Clearwater police spokeswoman, Elizabeth Watts.
